Several Chinese Super League clubs remain tightly bunched in the race for second place behind runaway leaders Chengdu Rongcheng, with Dalian Yingbo holding a narrow edge at 40 points after 26 matches while Beijing Guoan, Yunnan Yukun, and Qingdao West Coast sit on 38. Points deductions imposed on traditional powers including Shanghai Port, Shanghai Shenhua, and Shandong Taishan have leveled the field, allowing promoted sides and mid-table teams to stay in contention through consistent results and strong attacking outputs. Recent high-scoring wins and late drama following the mid-season break have kept momentum fluid, while upcoming fixtures and squad depth will determine which team secures the runner-up spot and associated continental qualification. Trader consensus reflects this parity across multiple realistic contenders.
