The 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign opens on 23 August with PSG installed as overwhelming title favorites on the back of five straight titles and a projected 86-point haul, leaving a wide-open race for second place. Pre-season squad reinforcements at clubs such as Lens, Lille, Monaco, Lyon, and Marseille have produced comparable roster depth and attacking options, while promoted sides Troyes and Le Mans add further variables. Recent transfer activity—including high-profile moves out of Monaco and into PSG—has redistributed talent without creating a clear hierarchy among the chasing pack. Historical patterns show second place often hinges on early-season form, home/away splits, and injury resilience rather than pre-campaign expectations, keeping implied probabilities tightly bunched across more than a dozen realistic contenders.
