Gian van Veen enters this World Series of Darts matchup as the clear favorite at 69% implied probability due to his elite recent form and rapid rise in the PDC rankings to world number two. The 24-year-old Dutchman has posted multiple high-100 averages in 2026 majors, including a deep run to the World Championship final and consistent Premier League performances featuring strong checkout rates and 180 tallies. Head-to-head results reinforce the edge, with van Veen defeating Clayton 6-3 in the US Darts Masters in June 2026 and another Premier League victory earlier in the season. Clayton, at 51, remains a seasoned campaigner with proven major pedigree but has shown more variable results this year, including recent losses to top competition and limited success against van Veen’s pace and finishing. No notable injury concerns affect either player, though the younger van Veen’s superior athleticism and current scoring momentum create a matchup dynamic favoring him in best-of sets format.
