The 2026–27 Ligue 1 season opens in late August with the fifth- and sixth-placed sides earning UEFA Europa League league-phase spots, subject to Coupe de France outcomes and any reallocation rules. Established European performers such as Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais enter with squad depth, recent continental experience, and preseason stability that position them ahead in early trader assessments. Summer transfer windows, managerial continuity, and the demanding 34-match schedule will quickly separate contenders, while promoted sides and mid-table clubs like Monaco or Lyon seek momentum through strong starts. Fixture congestion and domestic cup progress remain key variables that can shift qualification paths over the full campaign.
