Early in the 2026-27 Betway Premiership season, the race for most clean sheets remains tightly bunched as no side has established sustained defensive dominance after roughly eight matchweeks. Orlando Pirates lead early defensive metrics with just one goal conceded and six clean sheets, supported by organized backlines and strong goalkeeping. Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu, and Lamontville Golden Arrows sit close behind, reflecting solid recent form and tactical discipline typical of the low-scoring PSL. However, widespread injury concerns—particularly among Chiefs and Pirates defenders—plus fixture congestion and the integration of promoted sides like Durban City and Kruger United introduce volatility. Trader consensus at even implied probabilities underscores the long campaign ahead and the potential for mid-table teams with compact setups to challenge the traditional powers.
