Persistent warm, humid air under high pressure has kept Austin's overnight lows in the mid- to upper 70s according to National Weather Service guidance and ensemble models, well above the 1991–2020 average low of 67°F for September 17. This setup, with light southeast winds and minimal cloud cover allowing efficient radiative cooling only after midnight, supports market-implied odds favoring 69°F or below at 50% while clustering secondary probability in the 72–77°F range. Recent model runs show modest spread in boundary-layer moisture and wind speed that could permit a brief dip below 70°F before sunrise, yet sustained southerly flow limits downside risk below the mid-70s. Updated NWS briefings and next model cycle will clarify whether any overnight cooling trend materializes.
