Argentina enters the 2026 World Cup group stage as defending champions and the clear market favorite to finish as Group J’s highest-scoring side, with traders citing the team’s elite attack featuring proven goal threats and favorable matchups against Algeria, Austria, and Jordan. The group’s opening fixtures begin June 16, giving Argentina three opportunities to rack up goals against sides ranked well below them in FIFA standings. Austria sits as the next most plausible contender given its organized UEFA qualification campaign, yet remains a distant second in implied probability. Algeria and Jordan trail sharply, reflecting limited recent international scoring output and tougher projected defensive tests. No major injury or roster developments have altered the pre-tournament hierarchy in the past week.
