Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and affiliated models currently project a daily maximum temperature in the mid-70s for Chicago on September 17, with mostly cloudy conditions, morning thunderstorm chances, and northeast winds limiting afternoon heating. Cloud cover extent, precipitation timing, and any last-minute model shifts in steering patterns or dew points represent key variables that could push readings toward the upper or lower edges of the 74–79°F range dominating market-implied odds. Historical September averages near 76°F provide context, yet persistent humidity and storm activity introduce realistic downside risk while clearer breaks could support modest upside. Upcoming NWS updates and new model runs will likely refine these probabilities ahead of resolution.
