Traders have priced "No" at a commanding 96.7% implied probability for Little Joe escaping again, reflecting the silverback gorilla’s 33 years of age and the dramatic drop in agility that powered his famous 2003 breakout from Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo. Extensive enclosure reinforcements installed after that incident, combined with more than two decades of incident-free captivity, have created a consensus view that another escape before the July 31, 2026 deadline is highly improbable. Recent viral memes surrounding his carefully managed transfer to Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium for breeding have only reinforced the market’s skepticism, as zoo professionals apply rigorous transport protocols. While a rare mechanical glitch during the move or initial adjustment stress in the new habitat could theoretically create an opening, experts consider such scenarios remote given the layered security measures now in place.

For the purposes of this market, an "escape" consists of the gorilla getting out of his enclosure in an uncontrolled way. For example, his scheduled transfer to another zoo or removal from the enclosure for vet visits or maintenance will not qualify.
This market will resolve according to information from the Pittsburgh Zoo, the Franklin Park Zoo, or a consensus of credible reporting.
