Trader sentiment for Chicago Metro median home values on September 30 centers on the $340K–$345K range at 34.5% implied probability, reflecting Zillow’s typical home value near $338K amid 4–5% year-over-year appreciation through mid-2026. Tight inventory, with active listings down double digits, and resilient local demand continue supporting prices despite mortgage rates holding above 6%, which limits buyer affordability and transaction volumes. Recent Redfin and Realtor.com data show median sale prices in the $375K–$430K range for the broader metro, though typical values track lower. Key swing factors include upcoming inflation releases, labor market reports, and any FOMC signals that could shift 30-year mortgage yields, with seasonal patterns into fall adding modest downside risk to the closely contested buckets.
