Incumbent Republican Nick Begich III holds a strong position in Alaska’s at-large House race ahead of the August 18 top-four primary and November general election. Alaska’s presidential voting patterns and the district’s partisan lean have favored Republicans in most recent cycles, with Begich defeating Democrat Mary Peltola in 2024. The withdrawal of the leading Democratic candidate, Rev. Matt Schultz, in July has left limited organized opposition, while independent Bill Hill emerges as the most notable remaining challenger. Fundraising reports and early polling show Begich maintaining double-digit leads, consistent with trader pricing that assigns the Republican Party an 83.5% implied probability of holding the seat. The race remains subject to ranked-choice voting dynamics and any late shifts in voter turnout among independents.
