The 2026–27 Croatian HNL season opened in late July with a 10-team field that includes promoted side Rudeš replacing Vukovar 1991. Early results show HNK Gorica winless and bottom after six matches, while Slaven Belupo and Rudeš also sit near the relegation zone with poor form and negative goal differences. Established mid-table sides such as Lokomotiva, Istra 1961, and Osijek have recorded mixed starts, and the usual top clubs (Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, Varaždin, Rijeka) occupy the upper positions. Managerial changes at several clubs and the typical tight points spread at the bottom will shape the relegation picture over the long campaign.
