**Recent forecasts position the highest temperature in Chicago on September 9, 2026, near or slightly above the 1991–2020 average high of 78.6 °F.** Official guidance from the National Weather Service and models such as those reflected in WeatherBug show a high in the upper 70s to low 80s under mostly cloudy skies, with showers likely in the morning and a 60% chance of storms through the afternoon. Southwest winds of 10–15 mph and elevated humidity accompany a passing weather system that limits daytime heating after early-September highs reached the mid-90s. These conditions create strong trader consensus around 78–82 °F bins, as cloud cover, precipitation, and the moderating frontal passage reduce the chance of exceeding 83 °F while keeping values above the mid-70s unlikely. Updated model runs and NWS briefings ahead of the 24-hour window will be the next key inputs.
