Latest National Weather Service and model guidance point to Austin highs in the mid-to-upper 90s on September 7, supported by persistent southerly flow, light winds, and partly cloudy skies that permit strong daytime heating while limiting radiational cooling. Historical early-September averages near 93°F have been exceeded recently amid an ongoing warm pattern, with heat indices already reaching 105°F. Minor differences in afternoon cloud cover, boundary-layer moisture, or steering currents could shift the peak across the tightly bunched 96–101°F market bins; updated short-range model runs and local observations will clarify whether conditions favor the upper or lower end of that range.
