Romania's ongoing political deadlock after multiple failed confidence votes and coalition collapses has positioned Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare as the frontrunner for prime minister at 47.3% in trader consensus, reflecting discussions around a potential minority government backed by PNL, USR, and UDMR. Sorin Grindeanu of the PSD follows at 22.9% amid scenarios where the largest parliamentary party could lead or support an alternative arrangement. Other candidates like Radu Burnete and Ilie Bolojan register lower shares, consistent with fragmented party negotiations and the president's role in nominations. Recent stalled talks and the absence of a stable majority continue to shape these implied probabilities ahead of any resolution.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
