Databricks closed a $5 billion strategic funding round on August 13, 2026, at a $190 billion post-money valuation, following a Coatue-led term sheet at $188 billion in July and earlier talks in the $165–175 billion range. The round reflects sustained investor demand for its data and AI platform amid >80% year-over-year revenue growth that pushed the annualized run rate above $7 billion in Q2. This marks a sharp step-up from the $134 billion valuation set in the prior round completed around year-end 2025. CEO commentary has emphasized staying private through 2026 given crowded IPO calendars and favorable secondary-market conditions, with proceeds earmarked for further development of AI governance, agent, and database tools. Any near-term revaluation by December 31 would likely hinge on additional primary or secondary transactions, continued execution on recurring revenue growth, or shifts in broader AI sector multiples rather than an imminent public listing.
