Lulu Sun holds the edge in this Roland Garros qualifying match on the red clay, entering with a WTA ranking near 107 and recent wins on the surface against players like Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Ksenia Efremova. The 25-year-old New Zealander, seeded fifth in the draw, brings stronger recent form and Grand Slam experience, including a prior Wimbledon quarterfinal, while Yexin Ma sits around 183 and has compiled a more limited schedule at this level. Their head-to-head record stands even at one win apiece, but Sun’s victory in last year’s Jingshan final on hard courts highlights her ability to close out matches. With the first-round qualifier scheduled on Court 13, factors such as clay-court movement, serve consistency, and early-round rust will shape whether the higher-ranked player advances toward the main draw.
