The July 2026 structural failure at Manhattan’s former Pfizer headquarters, where buckled columns during an office-to-residential conversion triggered evacuations and a city probe, has not yet produced criminal charges despite documented missing reinforcements and prior safety violations. New York officials continue a joint Buildings Department and law enforcement investigation into construction lapses at the 235 East 42nd Street site, with additional column issues identified in August and repairs completed, but public findings and blame assignment remain pending months later. Trader consensus favoring no charges by year-end reflects the typical pace of such probes, emphasis on civil litigation and project stabilization, and absence of rapid enforcement actions seen in comparable incidents. Upcoming deadlines or new evidence could still shift the outlook before December 31.
