**Incumbent Democrat Sanford Bishop faces Republican Matt Day in Georgia’s 2nd congressional district on November 3, 2026, after both cleared unopposed or lightly contested primaries.** The district’s D+4 partisan lean and Bishop’s consistent performance—winning 56% in 2024—underpin trader expectations of a first-round majority. Georgia’s majority-vote rule triggers a December runoff only if no candidate exceeds 50%, and the current matchup’s structural advantages, limited polarization relative to swing districts, and absence of late-breaking disruptions support the 96% implied probability of an outright winner. A narrow polling surprise, unusually high third-party vote, or turnout anomaly remains possible but would require substantial deviation from recent patterns to force a runoff.
