The 2026 Martin mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 24, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Martin as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Martin, Žilina Region and Slovakia, including the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (https://volby.statistics.sk/).The Martin mayoral race remains tightly contested ahead of the October 24, 2026, vote, with incumbent Ján Danko holding a modest edge in trader pricing over opposition-backed challenger Michal Uherčík. Danko’s incumbency since 2018, record on city finances and infrastructure projects such as the new university hospital, and independent status provide a base of support in a city facing population decline and budget pressures. Uherčík, backed by a broad coalition of SaS, PS, KDH, Hnutie Slovensko, Demokrati, and OKS, emphasizes audits, energy savings, parking policy, and attracting residents and investors—positions that consolidate opposition votes after his narrow 2022 defeat. Lower-polling candidates including Renáta Habrunová and others have not consolidated further support. Limited new developments in recent weeks leave the outcome sensitive to turnout, coalition cohesion, and any late local announcements on priorities like transport links or municipal services.
