Peyton Watson remains a restricted free agent after stalled extension talks with the Nuggets, who tendered a $6.5 million qualifying offer while facing second-apron constraints that limit their ability to retain him long-term without luxury-tax complications. Watson has rejected offers around $70 million over five years and is reportedly seeking $25 million-plus annually, prompting Denver to explore sign-and-trade options with suitors including the Bucks, Clippers, Hawks, and Cavaliers. Multiple reports note active discussions involving player and pick packages, alongside Watson’s option to play out the qualifying offer and reach unrestricted free agency in 2027. This combination of salary disputes, Denver’s cap flexibility needs, and widespread interest from contending and rebuilding clubs has produced closely bunched implied probabilities across numerous destinations.
