Incumbent František Oľha leads the Prešov mayoral race with trader consensus around 58 percent, supported by endorsements from the Democrats and Progressive Slovakia ahead of the October 24, 2026, vote. His position stems from completed infrastructure projects, including a soccer stadium and skatepark, plus ongoing priorities in culture, transport modernization, and public facilities during his first term. A fragmented field of six candidates—including Rastislav Mochnacký backed by a KDH-led coalition, former mayor Pavel Hagyari as an independent, and others such as Martin Eštočák and Artúr Benes—has split opposition support and limited any single challenger's momentum. Recent candidate filings through late August confirmed the lineup without major shifts, leaving room for late campaign developments or turnout patterns in the combined local and regional elections to influence final separation.
