The February 8, 2026 Thai general election delivered 74 seats to the Pheu Thai Party, locking the 70–79 outcome at full market consensus. This tally reflects a sharp drop from the 141 seats secured in 2023, driven by the constitutional court’s removal of two Pheu Thai prime ministers in 2025, the jailing of party founder Thaksin Shinawatra, and voter backlash over the party’s handling of border tensions with Cambodia. Bhumjaithai captured a commanding 192 seats while the progressive People’s Party took 118, fragmenting Pheu Thai’s traditional northern and northeastern base. Limited recounts in a handful of constituencies remain the only procedural step that could still shift the final certified total within the current range.
