Recent polling from sources like Yale Youth Poll and Pew Research Center shows Democrats maintaining a substantial edge among voters ages 18-29, including young men, with margins often exceeding 20 points on the generic congressional ballot. This stems from declining approval for the incumbent administration among this demographic since 2024, driven by economic pressures such as affordability and cost of living, alongside lower midterm turnout expectations among Republican-leaning young men. PRRI data from early September notes a persistent but narrowing gender gap in party identification, with young men at 27% Republican identification. Traders appear to weigh these factors heavily in assigning Democrats the leading position, while Republicans trail amid uncertain enthusiasm and shifts among independents and lower-propensity voters.
