Apple's ongoing qualification of CXMT DRAM for iPhones and MacBooks, driven by the AI-fueled memory shortage, has not translated into confirmed 2026 purchases because CXMT's production remains fully allocated to domestic Chinese demand with limited export capacity. Regulatory barriers, including CXMT's Pentagon blacklist status and active congressional pressure on the Commerce Department, require White House approval that remains pending, while CXMT has rejected Apple's requests for discounted pricing in favor of rates matching Samsung and SK Hynix. These constraints, alongside the company's focus on China-only volumes initially, underpin trader consensus that a meaningful commercial deal is improbable this year despite early talks.
