The Strasbourg clay-court qualifier pits French player Elsa Jacquemot, currently ranked 64th, against Anastasia Zakharova at 81st in a first-round matchup. Jacquemot enters with home-soil familiarity and a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their December 2024 indoor meeting, though her 2026 results show inconsistency after early exits in Rome and Miami. Zakharova arrives with stronger recent momentum, including a three-set upset over Katie Boulter on clay in Paris and victories over Dayana Yastremska, tempered by a loss to Linda Noskova in Rome. Both players favor baseline rallies suited to the slow surface, with rest and draw positioning likely determining which advances to the main draw.
