Rebecca Sramkova enters this Roland Garros qualifying opener with a clear edge rooted in her higher WTA ranking and main-tour experience against Kayla Cross, a 21-year-old Canadian ranked outside the top 190 who competes primarily at ITF and Challenger levels. The Slovak has faced stronger opposition in recent months, including a loss to Taylor Townsend on clay in Rome, while Cross’s results have come mostly against lower-ranked players. No prior head-to-head exists, but Sramkova’s superior serve-return metrics and success rate in deciding sets could prove decisive on the slow red clay at Court 3. The 29-year-old’s familiarity with Grand Slam qualifying atmospheres further tilts trader consensus toward her advancing in this first-round matchup.
