Recent polling consistently places the CDU ahead of the SPD by 4–8 points in the September 20, 2026, Berlin state election, with the CDU at 19–20% and the SPD at 12–15% across INSA, Infratest dimap, and Civey surveys from July and August. The SPD’s weakness stems from its junior role in the incumbent CDU-SPD coalition amid low approval for the Senate’s performance. Kai Wegner’s July withdrawal as CDU lead candidate over a January power outage controversy prompted a shift to Stefan Evers, stabilizing CDU support while the SPD has shown only modest recent gains. With the election roughly one month away and no polls indicating an SPD overtake, trader consensus assigns the CDU an 88.5% implied probability of receiving more votes.
