Iran counters with calls for immediate sanctions relief, release of $12–24 billion in frozen assets, and potential compensation, creating friction over sequencing and verification. These talks, described by Trump as nearing final stages with a deal possible in days, directly influence global oil supply dynamics and energy price volatility given Hormuz's role in roughly 20% of seaborne oil trade. A resolution by June 30 could ease upward pressure on crude benchmarks and U.S. gasoline prices, while delays risk renewed strikes and sustained market uncertainty.
