The Los Angeles Mad Drops enter as the No. 3 seed with elite regular-season standings points and a deep roster led by Ben Johns, while the No. 6 Dallas Flash carry momentum from advancing out of the opening playoff round and a July victory over LA. The best-of-three team series features multiple doubles disciplines, where individual head-to-heads—particularly Johns versus JW Johnson in men’s and mixed doubles—shape outcomes, with the teams splitting their prior regular-season meetings. Dallas has shown recent competitiveness in doubles matchups against the Mad Drops, including strong showings that forced extended play. Lineup decisions, such as LA’s mixed doubles pairings, rest advantages on the Newport Beach courts, and the ability to sustain form across the August 14-16 quarterfinal window remain key variables for the Match 1 result.
