Incumbent Leonard Krog holds a strong lead in the October 17, 2026 Nanaimo mayoral race, reflected in trader pricing that assigns him the highest implied probability among declared candidates. As a former BC NDP MLA and two-term mayor emphasizing core municipal services, Krog benefits from incumbency advantages and established name recognition in a field that remains limited. Anne Marie Dryden, a financial planner backed by the REAL Nanaimo slate, has positioned herself as the primary challenger with right-leaning priorities, though her odds trail notably. Sarah Lovegrove’s recent entry as a third candidate adds further options but has not shifted the market consensus. With nominations closing in September and advance voting set for early October, the limited competition and Krog’s record continue to anchor current pricing.
