The SEC’s May 5, 2026 proposal to permit optional semiannual reporting on a new Form 10-S in lieu of mandatory quarterly 10-Q filings has not advanced beyond the comment stage, leaving the 81.5% market-implied probability on “No” intact. Public comments closed July 6 with notable opposition from investor advisory groups emphasizing quarterly disclosures’ role in price discovery, transparency, and lower cost of capital. No final rule adoption or Commission vote has occurred as of mid-August 2026, and the December 31, 2026 resolution deadline compresses the window for completing the regulatory process. Trader consensus therefore prices in the substantial procedural, stakeholder, and timing barriers that make wholesale removal of the quarterly requirement unlikely this year.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission votes to approve a rule or otherwise formally enacts a policy that removes the requirement for publicly traded companies to file quarterly earnings reports by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
Narrow company or industry specific removals of quarterly earnings requirements will not qualify. Likewise a general removal of the rules which maintains the quarterly reporting requirement for specific companies will qualify.
Any approving vote on a rule change that reduces the requirement to report earnings from quarterly to a less frequent cadence will qualify.
The primary resolution source will be official information from the SEC; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
