The Odyssey leads the early market-implied odds for Best Original Score at the 2027 Oscars, fueled by Christopher Nolan’s epic’s strong box office opening and positive reactions from initial Academy screenings. Composer Ludwig Göransson’s sweeping, large-scale work—his third consecutive collaboration with Nolan—has drawn industry attention as a potential frontrunner, building on his recent wins and the film’s technical ambitions. Project Hail Mary sits in a clear second, with its own high-profile elements creating a competitive dynamic between two major studio releases. Lower-priced contenders like Dune: Part Three and Disclosure Day remain on the periphery pending wider releases, guild precursors, and score-specific reviews. With the race still months from nominations, momentum hinges on upcoming fall screenings, critical consensus on the music, and historical Academy patterns favoring established composers in big-budget spectacles.
