The tightly bunched probabilities for the 2026 U.S. Open second-round leader at Shinnecock Hills reflect broad parity across a deep field ahead of Thursday’s opening round. Joaquin Niemann enters with elevated market attention due to his strong recent LIV form and ball-striking consistency that aligns with the course’s firm, wind-exposed demands, yet no single player has separated decisively. Contenders such as Jake Knapp, Shane Lowry, Daniel Berger, and Dustin Johnson sit close behind, supported by recent results and major-course experience, while established names like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm carry lower implied probabilities for an early lead despite stronger outright odds. Variable early-week conditions and the premium on accurate iron play and course management keep outcomes fluid through 36 holes.
