**Incumbent Republican Austin Scott faces no opposition in his party's primary for Georgia's 8th congressional district, while the Democratic primary on May 19 produced a first-round majority winner.** Kelly Esti secured 53.5% against Justin Lucas, avoiding a runoff under Georgia rules that require over 50% for outright nomination. The district's consistent Republican performance in prior cycles, combined with Scott's established incumbency and fundraising edge, has produced broad trader agreement that the November general election will also feature a first-round majority outcome rather than a December runoff. This consensus reflects the absence of competitive pressure or polling shifts that would indicate a close contest capable of denying any candidate a majority. Forecasters rate the seat as safely Republican, consistent with historical margins in this south-central Georgia district. Even at 98.4% implied probability, late developments such as an unforeseen scandal, candidate health event, or unusually high third-party turnout could theoretically narrow the margin enough to trigger a runoff, though no such factors have emerged.
