**Clear skies, building high pressure, and moderate southeasterly winds are positioning Cape Town for a mild spring day on September 5, with model consensus favoring a daily maximum near 23–24°C.** Recent developments reinforce this: cooler, wet, and windy conditions on September 3 (highs ~16–17°C with rain and gusts to 70+ km/h) gave way to clearing on the 4th, setting up stable, sunny weather. Official short-range guidance (Met Office, local models) projects 21–25°C highs under clear or mostly clear skies, with minimal cloud cover and light-to-moderate SE flow limiting both extreme heating and cooling. Historical September averages for Cape Town hover around 18–20°C, so current conditions represent a modest warm anomaly without crossing into heat-wave territory. Minor model spread (some runs slightly cooler at ~21°C, others peaking near 25°C) keeps 24°C the plurality favorite while supporting the clustered probabilities around 22–25°C. No significant fronts or moisture intrusions are expected before resolution.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=fact
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
