Labour's Andy Burnham holds a narrow lead in recent polling for the 18 June Makerfield by-election, driven by his profile as Greater Manchester mayor and selection to position him for a potential party leadership challenge. Reform UK's local candidate Robert Kenyon, a plumber from the constituency, has mounted a competitive challenge on issues including immigration and local identity, though trailing slightly in surveys such as Survation's late-May poll. A recent BBC candidate debate highlighted the head-to-head between the two frontrunners, with other parties including the Conservatives, Greens, Liberal Democrats, and Restore Britain's Rebecca Shepherd polling well behind. This positioning underpins trader consensus that Kenyon is the clear second-place contender ahead of the vote.
