Magnus Carlsen holds the strongest position as the 65% favorite in the six-player double round-robin at Norway Chess 2026, driven by his 2840 FIDE rating, record seven prior victories in the event, and unmatched classical experience against this caliber of opposition. The field features world champion Gukesh Dommaraju, rising German star Vincent Keymer, and consistent top performers Alireza Firouzja, Wesley So, and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, all capable of capitalizing on any slip in the May 25–June 5 Oslo classical games. Trader consensus prices reflect Carlsen’s home-country edge and proven ability to convert small advantages in such formats, while the remaining players share roughly even implied probabilities as potential upset candidates in a tightly contested lineup.
