The open mayoral seat following incumbent Malcolm Brodie's decision not to seek re-election has produced a crowded field of announced candidates ahead of the October 17, 2026 vote in Richmond, BC. Early campaign activity centers on candidate announcements, slate formations, and the upcoming nomination window from September 1 to 11, with limited polling or consolidated support emerging to date. Sheldon Starrett and Henry Yao currently lead trader-implied probabilities among named contenders, but the multi-candidate structure and absence of decisive late-stage developments sustain tight spreads near the top of the market. Future separation could arise from nomination outcomes, endorsement patterns, or campaign spending disclosures once the formal period begins.
