**Nikema Williams secured the Democratic nomination for Georgia’s 5th Congressional District with an 88% primary victory in May 2026, while Republican John Salvesen advanced unopposed or with minimal opposition.** The solidly Democratic district, rated Safe or Solid Democratic by major forecasters and carrying a substantial partisan lean, features a two-candidate general election matchup on November 3. Georgia law requires a majority for outright victory, with a potential runoff on December 1 if no candidate reaches 50% plus one. Historical margins in this Atlanta-centered seat have consistently exceeded 70–85%, creating a wide buffer against vote splitting or upsets that could force a runoff. Traders price the high probability of an outright winner accordingly, reflecting the absence of competitive dynamics or structural changes that would narrow the outcome.
