Recent polls ahead of Berlin’s September 20, 2026 Abgeordnetenhaus election show Die Linke leading with Elif Eralp as its Spitzenkandidatin, driven by voter focus on housing costs and rent controls in municipal apartments. Eralp’s nomination in 2025 and emphasis on affordability have lifted her party above the CDU, whose candidate Stefan Evers replaced incumbent Kai Wegner after the latter’s July withdrawal amid criticism of crisis handling. Other contenders including SPD’s Steffen Krach, the Greens’ Werner Graf, and AfD’s Kristin Brinker trail in surveys, with no single party projected to secure a majority. Traders assign Eralp the highest probability of ultimately leading a coalition government, reflecting her party’s current momentum and potential alliances with the SPD and Greens.
