Lionel Messi's confirmed inclusion in Argentina's official 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, announced May 29, has anchored the near-certain market consensus at 99.5% implied probability for Yes. Recent injury concerns were quickly ruled out as minor muscle fatigue rather than anything serious, while consistent fitness reports from Inter Miami and positive comments from coaches like Javier Mascherano and Guillermo Hoyos have reinforced expectations that the 38-year-old captain will feature in what could be his sixth tournament. The event's location across North America adds logistical appeal, and historical precedent favors his participation given Argentina's title defense and Messi's public interest in one more major run. A late injury withdrawal remains the only plausible upset scenario that could still shift the outcome before kickoff.
