Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a minimum temperature in the upper 50s for San Francisco on September 4, driven by persistent onshore flow and a strong marine layer that has kept daytime highs in the mid-60s and overnight lows suppressed after an unusually early September storm system delivered light rain and clouds. This pattern aligns with the market-implied 58-59°F outcome at 44% and the 54-55°F bucket at 31.5%, reflecting typical early-fall climatology where average lows hover near 56°F but cool advection and high humidity limit radiative cooling. Traders appear to assign modest probability to colder outcomes below 50°F given the storm's lingering effects, while warmer readings above 62°F remain less favored amid below-normal temperatures expected to persist through the resolution window. Updated model runs and any late-day clearing will be key variables to watch.
