This followed a blistering year-to-date advance exceeding 75 percent, fueled by surging memory-chip demand from global tech infrastructure spending and upward revisions to earnings estimates for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. With EWY trading near 178–190 after intraday swings of 5–7 percent, implied probabilities in related contracts reflect trader caution over near-term momentum sustainability. Key catalysts for the week of May 18 include potential follow-through volatility tied to U.S. semiconductor earnings, global risk appetite, and any shifts in foreign institutional flows, all of which continue to shape consensus around short-term price thresholds.
