Trader consensus on Polymarket assigns a 92.5% implied probability to "No" for a Costco hot dog price increase before 2027, reflecting the retailer's steadfast commitment to its iconic $1.50 combo as a loss-leader driving foot traffic and membership retention amid robust same-store sales growth. CEO Ron Vachris reaffirmed in March 2026 that "the price will not change as long as I'm around," echoing prior CFO assurances and co-founder mandates since 1985, with recent April menu tweaks—adding bottled water options—leaving pricing untouched despite food cost inflation. This skin-in-the-game positioning underscores Costco's high-margin membership model absorbing ancillary losses. Realistic challenges include acute supply chain disruptions or post-earnings pressure from Q3 2026 results, potentially prompting reevaluation if rotisserie chicken parallels emerge.
