United Russia maintains its commanding position in the September 18–20, 2026, State Duma election due to its status as the ruling party backed by the Kremlin, extensive control over the electoral process, and consistent polling leads of roughly 40–50 percent. Recent developments reinforcing this include President Putin’s June 2026 decree setting the vote dates, multi-day voting procedures, participation in occupied territories, and measures that have limited genuine opposition, such as the recent barring of Yabloko. Systemic parties including the CPRF, LDPR, New People, and A Just Russia–For Truth remain on the ballot but show limited prospects of surpassing the threshold or challenging the majority. Trader consensus at 98.2 percent reflects these structural barriers, though low-probability shifts could arise from major escalations in the Ukraine conflict, significant elite fractures, or unexpected turnout anomalies within the remaining campaign window.
