**Avengers: Doomsday leads market-implied odds for the second-biggest 2026 opening weekend at 65.5% because its December 18 release positions it as the next major MCU tentpole after Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record-breaking July 31 debut.** Recent box office tracking and trailer momentum have reinforced trader consensus that Doomsday will deliver a massive domestic haul, likely trailing only the Spider-Man film’s historic performance while outpacing earlier 2026 releases. Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s confirmed $449 million domestic and $1.155 billion global totals in its first week have solidified it as the year’s opening benchmark, shifting focus to Doomsday as the clear runner-up candidate. Toy Story 5’s June opening, while strong, has already fallen behind in cumulative results, reflected in its near-zero odds, and later titles like Dune: Messiah and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping face even steeper competitive barriers. Upcoming catalysts include further Doomsday marketing and any late-year adjustments to release windows that could alter final rankings.
