Washington Nationals (35-33) enter the series finale against the San Francisco Giants (27-41) after sweeping the first two games in San Francisco, including a 6-3 road victory on June 9 fueled by early offense and strong relief pitching. The Nationals sit third in the NL East and have thrived away from home, while the Giants rank fourth in the NL West and have stranded numerous runners in scoring position during the series. Pitching the finale are Nationals left-hander Foster Griffin and Giants veteran Robbie Ray, with lineup tweaks including rest days for key players on both sides. Standings gaps and the Nats’ momentum in Oracle Park highlight the competitive gap reflected in current trader pricing.
