Darja Vidmanova holds the clear edge in this Roland Garros qualifying opener on clay, backed by her career-high ranking near 104 and a 2026 record of 18 wins against 13 losses that includes strong showings in recent WTA and ITF events on the surface. The Czech right-hander brings superior recent form and deeper experience in Grand Slam qualifying draws compared with Xinyu Gao, who sits around 221 in the rankings and carries a 12-9 mark this year marked by early exits and a retirement in her most recent outing. With no prior head-to-head history, Vidmanova’s established baseline consistency and movement on clay position her favorably, though Gao’s power game could create opportunities if the higher-ranked player struggles with early-match rhythm in the first-round setting.
