Roman Safiullin enters this Roland Garros qualifying clash holding a modest ranking edge over Mark Lajal, with the Russian veteran’s prior Grand Slam experience and comfort on clay serving as primary factors shaping trader views. The 28-year-old has competed in multiple main-draw appearances at majors, including a Wimbledon quarterfinal, while the 23-year-old Estonian has built momentum through recent Challenger results on hard courts but faces his first high-stakes clay test at Roland Garros. Neither player has faced the other previously, leaving surface-specific endurance and baseline consistency as decisive elements in what projects as a competitive opening-round qualifier where late adjustments to conditions or physical freshness could shift momentum.
